Date of Initial Investment: 2001
Business Description: Formed in 2001 to become a fully integrated Japanese hospitality company. At the time of establishment, the hospitality market in Japan was characterized by fragmented domestic competition and presented an opportunity to make scalable investments in under-managed hotels. Since inception, Ishin has invested in 26 hotels with over 6,000 rooms across Japan. The platform creates value by employing advanced hotel management technologies, renovating and re-branding hotels, and proactive management of the capital structure. Ishin recognized an under-serviced segment of the market and capitalized on the opportunity by creating its own up-market, limited service brand, called the “b,” which stands for bed, bathroom, and breakfast.
